Sights and Sounds vs Comfort and Convienience

Living out in the boonies has a lot of advantages, but it has some drawbacks too. Everything is so far away. I haven’t been to a movie theater since we moved out here. We used to go to the movies all the time when we lived in the city. For the most part I prefer to watch movies at home. Sometimes I miss the big screen advantage, especially on action flicks, but overall it’s more comfortable, you can hit pause when you have to go to the bathroom, or grab a snack, all of that. One thing that’s hard to replace is the smell of fresh popcorn. The sounds of popcorn machines popping, the smell of hot melted butter in the air. Now it’s microwave popcorn in a bag. It would be cool to buy one of the home theater popcorn machines for special movie nights where the whole family gathers to watch a movie. Then we could ‘have it all’. The convienience, the comfort… and the smell of fresh popcorn and hot butter.
